Flares

I have been in a flare since March. 4 rounds of steroids. 3 rounds of antibiotics. Chest x-ray, sputum test, blood work, CT scans. All come back normal. Had a bronchial lavage October 25th. One result came back as mold abnormal. Sent to another lab. It was mold. Penicillium hich is what they make penicillin with. I believe I got this from were I live. Surrounded by tree's, water, large grass field, creek. I live in a small 2 bedroom trailer. I think there is mold under the trailer. Just got approved for disability. Hopefully I will be moving before the end of this year. My question is, has any one have this. If so what is most likely the treatment. I see the pulmonologist on December 4th

  1. Hi , it sounds like you are contending with a lot right now! I'm glad to hear you have an appointment with your pulmonologist in a few weeks! We can't offer any specific medical advice via the Internet for your safety, so it is best to check with your doctor. Many different environmental factors can trigger COPD flares, so it is possible this mold situation is what triggered this. I am hopeful that at your appointment in December that you and your pulmonologist will be able to figure out a good treatment plan to help you feel better! All the best, Sam S. (COPD team).
