Exacerbations
I have COPD emphasema I am on prednisolone it feels like every two weeks the breathlessness starts to get worse the respiratory doc put me on uniphyllin terrible side affects now on montelukast I've been on them 4 weeks have a flair up again and the side affects breathlessness among others every 6 months telephone call. Sorry for the rant has any body been on these meds 😘
Hi Weeann, and thanks for your comment and question. I am hopeful others in the community will chime in and share their experiences if they have used any of these medications (prednisolone, uniphyllin, and montelukast). I also have something to contribute.
Just as COPD affects all patients differently, the same can be said of the efficacy of any medication. Some folks have great success using medications while still others, may not do well using the very same medications. In cases like those (where patients do not respond well to a medication), the prescribing physician can usually find an alternative for the patient.
Do you think this is what is happening in your case? Have you had an opportunity to discuss this with your prescribing physician?

Montelukast does do good things for me, i.e. quite significant improvement in cloudy breathing, especially if I use it a bit stop start instead of every day, but it comes with some quite heavy side effects. Those do diminish with use however, mostly.
