Coping with c.o.p.d.

My husband is at its wits end!! He can't find a doctor that even acts like they care about him & his health he's suffering with c.o.p.d.,he's suffered 3 heart attacks & has a G.I. bleed! Doctors are not giving him hope or getting his bleed under control...I don't know what to do anymore 🥺

  1. , I hear how frustrating and overwhelming it is when caring for a loved one with COPD and they cannot find a reliable and caring doctor! We all deserve to be given proper care and feel like our concerns are being heard. Many in our community have unfortunately learned that sometimes you have to be very adamant with your healthcare team and make them listen to you. You and your husband are your own best advocates. I hope you are able to find a good doctor to help take care of him soon. All the best, Sam S. (COPD.net, team member).

    1. Oh! I'm so sorry that you have to deal with that on top of illness. Do you have a PCP that you like? If so, ask them for recommendations. If that doesn't or hasn't worked, try family and friends for suggestions on providers they like. Also, don't be afraid to branch out to Physicians Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and DO's instead of MD's. Often you'll find a depth of expertise and willingness to spend time and attention on you and your loved ones.
You can also try searching for ratings and reviews of providers. That's a little more sketchy since it seems like very often it's the unhappy people that leave reviews - which can skew the numbers.
I hope you're able to find someone you feel comfortable with and that can help guide you and your husband through this.
      Best,
