Hi Cindy, My father had BOOP, you are the 2nd person now that I have know. My dad was diagnosed when he was mid 60's, thus already having a 4way by-pass on his heart and that was in bad shape. His treatments were not much and he didn't always do as the doctors suggested for treatment. He was able to do anything he wanted but of course would get winded at times. The medications and treatments now are so different and if you get the right lung specialist, follow the plan for medication, continue exercising and eat healthy. As for my fathers case he wouldn't listen to the doctor, got lazy and set in his recliner all day which weakened his whole body of course that he finally regretted nearing the end of his life. He was 85 yrs old over 20 years with boop. His passing was actually caused by his heart and lungs both. All here understands what you are going through, there is a lot of material on this site to check out. You got this, its just learning to deal and cope as changes happen, scary, yes at times. If offered rehab, take it if you can afford it. Not sure what else I could suggest, eat healthy, get a good group of doctors working with you. You got this and a lot of time for life ahead. Please don't waste it like my father did. Just so you know I am gold stage 4 copd, yes things are progressing for me, but I also just fought off stage 3 lung cancer last year and now fighting off a fungus in one lung and blood clot in the other. Not sure when death will arrive, just living each day the best I can, looking forward to Thanksgiving with family and friend.. Hope this was a little helpful. Doris
