Caregiver Help and Support

I am a caregiver to my husband who has moderate to severe COPD. I have been his caregiver for many years and I am now finding myself struggling with the changes in his condition. He is sleeping much more and has very little energy. He is on o2 24/7 and His o2 levels are ok, but we are finding that he drops quicker with any activity. I am wondering if anyone knows of a support group ( in Massachusetts ) that I could contact to help me cope and care for him better. I would love to be able to talk with someone and get some ideas on how to navigate this progression. Thank you

  1. Hi cmacdonald, and thanks for your post. We here at COPD.net, understand what you are going through and also what you are feeling.
Although I am not familiar with the Massachusetts community, we do have some material, published right here on COPD.net, which addresses the importance of support groups which may give you some ideas. For your convenience, here is a link to that material: https://copd.net/search?s=support%20groups.
I do hope you find the information within the articles is helpful for you in a practical way.
Please do keep us posted as to your (and your husband's!) progress moving forward.
    Wishing you 'good luck!'

    2. Hi ! I see has given you some great info but I wanted to add that there is a wonderful Caregiver Action network that you can look up online ( Feel free to message me anytime if you have any trouble finding this). There is another caregiver support program in Massachusetts that you can look online for and that is- Meet Caregivers. It will give you a list of 5 Support Groups in Massachusetts. I hope this helps! Best, Jackie (Moderator)
