carbociteine
Several months ago I was started on a drug called carbocisteine and I think I is quite effective. I just wondered if anyone else had any thoughts.

This drug is just a mucolytic. Along the same lines as Mucinex and NAC. It helps break up mucus in the lungs so it is easier to cough out. My pulmonologist has me take Mucinex daily to break up the mucus and prevent mucus plugs. My last CT scan showed mucus plugs and my doctor really does not want to have to do another bronchoscope to remove them. Hence, the Mucinex. I seem to be hacking out a lot more mucus since I have been taking it daily. I just had another CT scan and see the doctor in 10 days. So I will see how well I did getting the mucus out. I also use my acapella and spirometer 5 times a day to help break up the mucus. Take care and God Bless!

carbocisteine is a medicine that has been mentioned by others in our community -- with one example here (https://copd.net/forums/breathing-1). It seems to be very nice for helping people bring up those thick secretions that can block airways and make breathing difficult. So glad to hear that it works so well for you. John. community moderator. Have been taking NAC Twice a day 600mg. And it comes up. It was a fluke, i was advised from a good friend of whom is a retired surgeon. It works.
