Breztri vs Symbicort

Hello all. First post. I'm 72 years old and smoked for over 40 years. 14 months ago I was diagnosed with Emphysema. I know I had it long before the diagnoses but just a stubborn guy! Anyway I was first prescribed Breztri but discovered it was over $600 out of pocket. The doctor then prescribed Symbicourt and I was on that for 7 months. Huge improvement on my breathing and longevity before getting pooped out. Still along way from when I was 60. In January I changed medicare providers and Breztri came into my price range. Have been on it for 7 months. To be honest I'm not feeling any improvement with Breztri and possibly a bit less than when I was on Symbicourt. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

  1. Welcome to the community, ! I'm glad you decided to post. We are not medical experts, so keep that in mind. Have you talked with your doctor about this? It's seem that you have given Breztri a good trial run. If it is not as effective as Symbicourt, your doctor might switch you back. I have no experience with either medication though. Hopefully, others will chime in with some insight. Wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Thank you Lori. I'm looking for a possible response from someone that has experienced what I have, ie people that used both Breztri & Symbicourt.

      1. Jim, you may want to consider discussing Trelegy with your doctor. I used a combination of Symbicort and Spiriva for a couple of years....just wasn't getting the results I had hope to. I have to say I seem to be doing well using the Trelegy - I've been on it now a little better than a year.

        1. Thanks a bunch. I'll kick this around during my next DR visit.
