Answers FINALLY! Since July

Well folks it started in another post that I can not find now, but here it goes.
Went for my 3 month CT, check on cancer June 20. CT came back bad

July 3 PET scan ordered - came back bad showing 2 lesions. tumors in the same spots. All 3 docts believe cancer back. Bronch Biopsy ordered

July 12 Biopsy - came back neagative for cancer

July 29 Needle biopsy on other tumor/lesion, came back negative

Both Oncologist at this time stays Hmmm lets wait another 3 months to see if these grow or go away???? Yes they did!

Seen Pulom - asked if anything other then cancer looked for, she stated NO. Explained to her about fungal infrstion in 1989 that was dormant and could be triggered to attack again under certain conditions. We both agreed to check, Yes now a 3rd trip in to my right lung for a Swab.

After many types of test came back negative, one finally arrived with a response of "Remarkle Amount of fungi in the RIght Lung". This was Aug 21th. Still not sure which of the 8 or 9 it was though, needed to wait for the petri dish to develope.

Sept 18 - petri dish came through "Aspergillus Fumigatus Complex "
Treatment started! Anti-fungal, had to quite maintenance antibiotic for it does not mix well with the fungal meds.

In the meantime through this there has been other things. Edema, yes COPD can cause edema, got BAD - on water pills and now wound care for that, how long, well until it is all healed up.

Seen neurosurgeon for back and neuropathy that has been causing issues with the body including the diaphragm at times. Surgeon states back is really bad, but was not the cause of the neuropathy. Asked me if I have had radiation treatment n the more recent past. I stated yes! He said let me guess, Lungs? I said yes. It appears that one side effect with lung radiation is sometimes nerve damage, well that is what I lucked out with. Will it get better? Will it get worse? Will it ??? The answer was anything is possible or something new could show up in 10yrs that was caused by this too.

Finally the eyesight has been effective for now, possible only temporary, but hard ti see unless its 2" from my nose, still can see some colors though.

Still getting around pretty good, need the hubbies eyes at times of couse, butlife continues on, Hoping for a full recovery from the mold/ fungi and hoping to get some of my sight back. Other the that just keep on enjoying life as much as I can or sit down and have a good cry.

Thank all for listing, it helps just writing things out and getting off my chest.

  1. Hi. Thank you so much for the update and for sharing your journey with us. This is exactly what this space is for—to provide support as you go through all these ups and downs. Sorry that you can't find your original post. I have that happen to me before. And it surely gets frustrating. But glad you are back here with this update. I’m really relieved to hear it wasn’t cancer in your lungs, and I’m glad your doctors were able to pinpoint the fungal infection and start treatment. I can’t imagine how tough it must be to deal with everything else on top of that, like the neuropathy and vision issues, but it sounds like you’re handling it with such strength. 1. Goodness, that's a lot to take in, but I gathered it's good news? You are in my thoughts and prayers as always. Sending you prayers and healing vibes! Thank you for the update 🙏❤️

      1. dltld,
Wow, so much information to get through for you. I absolutely love your attitude! Hopefully after the fungal infection gets cleared up, you can gain back more of your eyesight. Glad the cancer is at bay and hopefully it will stay that way. Keep on keeping on as you recover. Hang in there, I will keep your in my thoughts and prayers. I go for a CT Scan this Tuesday. Then don't see my doctor until the 25th. We will see if all is good. Take care and God Bless!

        1. Hi dltld, what a terrible time you have gone through. Your stamina to deal with these changes is awesome. I pray you will be able to overcome the fungal infection. Just knowing no cancer was not found had to be a relief. I'll close this off for now. Praying your vision will return gradually. I will be looking for updates.
