Is it OK to exercise at your maximum when you have bulbous emphysema
I have a giant bulla and have read that it can rupture if stressed

estelle, each person is different as is their level of SOB, etc with COPD. So, while exercise is always important, you have to decide for yourself what you feel you can do safely. However, I think you may enjoy this link of an interview with someone that takes exercise very seriously even though having COPD. https://copd.net/living/russell-winwood-interview/

Thank you both for your prompt answer . I am 75 years old and have recently moved to a new country where I no longer have the support of a local medical center. Just getting an answer to my question made me feel better😀 I will check this out with a pulmonologist and let you know what (s)he says.

Hi estelle and thanks for your post. I tend to agree with what Lyn has written guiding you towards this being an individual decision. It's one thing to have 'read that a giant bullae can rupture if stressed' - not sure where you might have read that. It also might be an idea to discuss physical activity and exercising that would be most appropriate for you with your physician. Please do check back and let us know how you're doing. All the best, Leon (site moderator)

It's our pleasure, estelle. Lyn and I did not realize you had moved to a new country and the apprehension of lack of support may have been responsible for your concern. We'll look forward to hearing back from you once you've spoken with a pulmonologist. We're glad to have been of help to you. Warm regards, Leon (site moderator)
