vaping

My doctor and lung specialist both told me I can vap as long as I don't smoke. Any opinions

  1. Hi, ! I have heard that it causes popcorn lungs myself and has been sending many people to the ER, but can not tell you for sure. I. myself would be afraid to do it. I hope this helps. Thank you for reaching out! Best, Jackie (Moderator)

    1. Hi bogangles and thanks for your post. You have posted an excellent question. I'm hopeful others will chime in with their own opinions and/or share their own personal experiences here with the community.
I also have something to contribute. My own personal opinion (which carries over into my professional career caring for patients), is, folks should not smoke or vape. The material that is inhaled into the lungs can only hurt the pulmonary system.
What do YOU think, bogangles? Are you a smoker? Do you use electronic cigarettes?
If you are interested, we do have some material published, right here on our site, which focuses on this very topic. I see my colleague, , has already referenced one article.
      Wishing you well,

      1. I quit smoking about three years ago I do vap and it keeps me off cigarettes, but I am thinking of trying to give it up as well

        1. Hi again, bogangles, and thanks for your response and further explanation - we appreciate your candor with the community. I'm glad to hear you have been able to quit smoking.
Now, if your next goal is to quit vaping - I think that is something truly to strive for.
If there is anything we can do to assist you, please let me or any other moderator / team member know.
          Good luck!

        2. I absolutely have an opinion, though you might not want to hear it. I can tell you that high school kids here in Austin are dying from it, and the authorities have severely cracked down on it. It is now illegal here under 21, and stores selling the stuff are heavily regulated. For me, keep in mind that I continued to smoke for over 50 years, watching my own Mom die from it, and kept on smoking. My son vaped until I talked him into stopping, and he's back to smoking now, which I still find insane, as he is watching me die slowly from it. But that's the world we live in. I just don't get why someone would vape when they already have COPD. Like I'm anyone to talk. But I was a militant smoker, and now I'm a militant non-smoker. Crazy! Yup! So, my opinion is that you would be wise to stop the vaping, the smoking, anything that abuses your lungs. And make no mistake, vaping abuses your lungs. If I had a doctor that thought it was okay, I would fire them. I don't need a doctor who makes his decisions for his patients in his own financial interest. After all, doctors don't cure people, they only treat symptoms. It's how the medical industry works, and why there is so much money in it, and how it is self-perpetuating. I'm just saying.
