Rehab clinic

Has anyone been to a rehab centre for copd.My doctor has referred me and I would like to know if anyone has enjoyed any benefits.Thank you.

  1. Hi CM3858, and thanks for your post and question - it's a good one!
While I am hopeful others in the community will see your inquiry and respond by sharing their own personal anecdotal experiences, I also have something to add.
In all the years taking care of patients, I have seen first hand the benefits that are generally associated with a good pulmonary rehabilitation program.
I thought you might gain some additional insight from this article, which focuses on this very topic: https://copd.net/answers/expert-answers-pulmonary-rehabilitation.
I see that your physician has recommended that you get started with one. This is very exciting!!
Please do check back and let us know what you plan to do next.
Wishing you well and good luck!

    1. Thankyou for your feedback Leon much appreciated.

      1. Hi again, CM3858 - it is my pleasure. I will look forward to continued conversation/discussions with you going forward.
        Warm regards,

    2. Many people with COPD have reported benefits from rehabilitation, including improved physical function, increased energy levels, and reduced symptoms such as shortness of breath.

      1. thankyou so much waiting for 1st appointment.

      2. Hi again, CM3858 - I am sorry this seems as though it is going to be an extended wait. Is there anything that can be done to hasten up the process? It can be challenging to wait although you do seem to accept this seems to be the way the system (NHS) works.
We'll wait with you. You are always able to access here any time you want to. This can be as often and for as long as you want, too!
        Warmly,
        Leon (site moderator COPD.net)

    3. Hi. I have been to a rehab centre about 4 years ago. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have made. The tutorials are very informative and the exercises you do are tailored to your ability. I went twice a week for 6 weeks and I honestly looked forward to it as you spend time with others who are in the same situation. We had lots of laughter too likek when I fell off the exercise bike (uninjured I might add) I couldnt get off the floor I was laughing that much. Anyway you must go and after a few sessions you will feel the benefit. Good luck

      2. You made me smile. Having a care team that is willing to joke around can make all the difference when it comes to having a good experience at rehab. Thanks for being so encouraging. Hearing other experiences can be reassuring to folks who have never been to rehab before. Take care! -Melissa, copd.net team
