Pluresy or chest infection

I can’t even spell it.
I have been having a pain in my right hand side since last Saturday. I phoned my doctor Monday and he prescribed me a course of anti-inflammatories and painkillers. It’s now Friday and the pain is still there when I cough. I don’t know what to do, can I take my emergency pack while on anti-inflammatories if I need to?
It’s a four day weekend The Queens Jubilee so my doctors is closed.
I I’ve never known pain like it. Like someone stabbing me with a knife.
After having five children would’ve thought I’ve been used to pain but I would gladly give birth again if it’s stop this pain .
I don’t cough as it’s so painful and I’ve been in bed since last Saturday as painkillers have made me really sleepy.
The doctor didn’t examine me so how does he know what it is .
Rant over 🤣

  1. Hi Blackmirror - I hear you! It's nice to 'see' you posting here again, although I understand the nature of your complaint. We are unable to provide medical advice or diagnostics over the internet (for your own safety), but your concern certainly warrants a reply.
If this pain is persistent (as you indicated), and worsening (which may be the case), I would caution against self treatment in the absence of a definitive diagnosis. Whether the physician was correct (or not), to suggest the treatment that he/she did, the fact remains that you are still in need of an assessment and diagnosis. I understand the doctor is unavailable due to the festivities in England this weekend, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't seek out other medical assistance.
Do you have access to a facility (urgent care, emergency department, or hospital) that can provide the necessary diagnostic procedures for a proper evaluation of your symptoms? What do you think?
I am not viewing your comment as a 'rant' but rather as a cry for assistance and some guidance. Is this correct?
Please do check back as I have a genuine concern for your good health.
    Wishing you well,
    Leon (site moderator COPD.net)

    1. Update I had to call the paramedic, for some reason my blood pressure was really high and they wanted to take me in . I said not on your Nelly 🤨
I had my rescue pack 30 mins before I called and felt weird.I’m wondering was it the normal coffee as I ran out of decaffeinated or the jack daniels I had in it .

      Won’t be doing that again
I feel ok this morning will keep you posted 🦋

      1. Hi again, Blackmirror, and thanks for bringing us up-to-date on this recent development. That must have been pretty scary. Naturally, it was your choice whether to be transported to the hospital - I am sure you have your own reasons for not making that journey.
I am glad to hear that this morning you are feeling better. I do hope that you continue to feel this way moving forward.
We will look forward to hearing back from you and being kept apprised of your progress.
        Warm regards,
        Leon (site moderator COPD.net)
