Oxygen Patients and Mobility

Hello everyone. My name is Wayne. I am doing some research on supplemental oxygen patients and their needs regarding travel and mobility. Overall the broad consensus is that most oxygen patients have a difficult time with mobility because of their dependence on supplemental oxygen tanks and equipment. Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs) make mobility easier, but are expensive and difficult to obtain quickly, for either rent or purchase. Many POC distributors do not accommodate the needs of “out of network” patients, especially in travel situations. If anyone has any insight on their personal experiences (positive or negative) regarding oxygen and their travel needs, please feel free to express them here.

My goal in this research study is to gather information from both oxygen patients, their family members and caregivers to help develop a more efficient experience for supplemental oxygen patients in the future. Thank you for your time.

  1. Hi Wayne - Welcome and thanks for your post. While you may hear from others in the community concerning your request, I thought you might find it both helpful and interesting to review these articles on supplemental oxygen and travel:
First this one on the 'do's and don't's:https://copd.net/living/traveling-with-oxygen/
And next, this one on traveling with oxygen: https://copd.net/spotlight/spotlight-traveling/.

I do hope these provide you with a bit more insight into your concerns.
    All the best,
