I'm sorry to hear that! First, a flare-up is when your symptoms suddenly become worse. You may experience increased shortness of breath, more mucous production, coughing, fatigue, and pain.
That being said, one of the medications that can prevent flare-ups is your maintenance medication, which contains an inhaled steroid. Overall, because you inhale them as opposed to taking a pill, the effect on your blood glucose should be extremely minimal. Are you absolutely sure that was the cause of your increased glucose levels?
A flare-up, especially if it was due to an infection, could also cause problems with your glucose - so just something to think about. Please mention it to your doctor so they can regulate you medication to control both your diabetes and COPD.
Please let us know how you're doing.
Take care,
