exercise and emphysema

My Doctor says keep exercising. However my exercise tolerance gets less and less. I do not feel stronger after very mild exercise, I feel weaker and out of breath. I used to walk 30 minutes at a high speed on a treadmill. Now I can't even do a few minutes on a low speed. Any comments?

  1. Hi ldsbs, and thanks for your post. Actually, slow, steady exercise and activity usually works by gradually increasing one's strength and stamina over time. You may want to discuss this further with your physician to make certain you are exercising properly for your specific condition.
There are days when I don't feel a measurable improvement but, it is clear to me that, over time, I am either holding my own (steady), or, mildly improving. I never feel like my ability is decreasing. And, there is no question that I feel better (both mentally and physically), that I engaged at the beginning of each day. In fact, by late afternoon and early evening, my feeling of accomplishment is gratifying that I was able to stick with the exercise routine in the morning.
    What do you think?
