Diet

Having lived with COPD for 5 years and six trips to ICU I decided to do something about it and not accept the usual answer that you must live with it for the rest of your life and that there is no cure.

After a brief search I came across a Doctor of integrated medicine who opened up a whole new way of looking at chronic illness including strict diet guidelines. He was however, quick to mention that 40 years of smoking and a western diet was not something you fixed overnight, in fact it will take months if not a year.

I followed the guidelines and having watched Dr Berg and Bergman on utube become even more convinced I was of the right track. As a result I started a keto diet with intermittent fasting so as to start autophagy.

The results have been very noticeable as I can now walk around without oxygen and can take short walks. In addition I no longer take antibiotics and have reduced my pregnisone down to 5Mg a day and have lost 40 pounds in weight.

I visited my GP the other day to renew my prescription and he was blown away as he believed I should be dead by now and not have improved to this extent. When I explained to him how this was achieved he was most interested and was eager for me to let him know how I improved over the next few months.

For anyone who is prepared to go the extra mile this is well worth trying.

  1. Good for you Mr. Bannerman. I have been on oxygen since December, 2015, and it took me about three years to come to same conclusion. I am doing much better, but still on 02 24/7 -- I have learned to live with that. I also check my 02 and pulse levels constantly. It bothers me that so many medical say what they say as if they are reading it from a clip board.
