CT Scan

I got my results back from my pulmonologist, apparently I have scarring on my right lung, lower lobe, I was told to redo the scan in a year. Does this seem reasonable to anyone? Thank you in advance.

  1. SusanK,
It is pretty much the norm. Pretty much anyone with COPD has some scarring in their lungs. A CT Scan is so the pulmonologist can see if there are any new nodules or other new trouble spots in either lung. I have lost approximately 10% functionality on each lung. My doctor showed me the CT Scan and explained everything I was seeing. Since my last scan showed nothing new of any concern, I will get another in a year. Now if something causes problems like pneumonia or other infection, a new CT Scan would probably be ordered. Otherwise, all sounds right for you. Take Care and God Bless!

    1. thanks for your input, it's greatly appreciated. I was only diagnosed with COPD this past Memorial Day, so I'm new to this. I'm hoping once I start my pulmonary rehabilitation, I can possibly get off of oxygen while I sleep. Fingers crossed! I hope you have a great evening!

  2. Hi again, , and thanks for this follow-up and sharing the results of your CT scan with the community. I see our fellow community member , has already responded. Based on his experience (and what I know from all the years taking care of patients), his remarks to you are practical and make a lot of sense.
However, if you have any further concerns about the CT scan, I would urge you to discuss them in greater detail with your pulmonologist. The doctor will be able to provide you with a more detailed explanation that is specific for your own individual level of disease.
    What do you think?

    1. Hi again, Susan - I am sorry I missed your 'thank you' reply last evening. However, it is still appreciated today!!
Glad to hear you plan on seeing the doctor in early August - I am sure you will want to hear what he has to say. Should you want to share it with us, I'll look forward to an explanation as well.
      Have a great day!
