COPD and cold weather

Now that the weather is getting colder here in the UK now, does it affect my COPD? At the moment, I am finding that I am getting quite Breathless. Is this a common feature of COPD?

Yes, colder weather can cause breathing problems for COPD sufferers. So can hot weather. The weather affects all COPD sufferers differently. For me, hot weather (over 85 degrees) makes it hard for me to breathe; yet colder weather helps me breathe easier. That is as long as it isn't below 40 degrees. Below 40 and I get problems breathing. Here in south central Texas, this time of year until late March is good for me. When it gets colder than 40 degrees it is advisable to wear a scarf over your nose and mouth to warm the incoming cold air. It does help a lot. Every person with COPD reacts differently to different weather. As you learn what conditions are not good for you, then you can plan daily activities accordingly. Hope this helped a bit. Take care and God Bless!
