Cardiovascular issues

I have a few...hypertension, arteriosclerosis, and 3 aortic aneurysms with thrombus. I cough constantly and I don't know what effect that has on my aneurysms. My cough is worse with exacerbations. Any ideas.

  1. Hi CM60763f, and thank you for sharing this with the community. For many folks with a COPD diagnosis, comorbidities that my accompany the disease include cardiovascular issues. It does sound like you have your fair share.
How do you manage these? Are you being followed by a cardiologist for the cardiac conditions?
Is there anything further you are able to share with us at this time?
    Wishing you well,

    1. I definitely hear your concerns, unfortunately, we cannot offer specific medical advice on this but seeing your cardiologist next month is a great step. I am hopeful they will be able to address these concerns! Please check back in and let us know how you are doing. All the best, Sam S. (COPD.net, team member).

    2. Hi again, CM60763f, and thanks for acknowledging my response to you. I am glad to hear you have an appointment next month with a cardiologist. As you pointed out, coughing can alter the pressures within the chest cavity. I am sure you will be speaking with the doctor about the potential effects this type of coughing my exert on the aneurysm(s).
Please do check back, if you don't mind, and let us know how this all turns out for you.
      Good luck!

  2. Thanks many.....yes I'll give an update when I have more info.

    1. HI, well just wanted to say I have 3 stents in my heart, in need of another and have a stent place to support a Thoracic Aorta Dissection. All of these done while suffering with COPD. Yes have hypertension too, among a few other issues. My heart has NOT been damaged so I'm good for now. Since you know you have these issues you mentioned that I would have to believe you have been seen by a Cardiologist and / or a Vascular Surgeon in the past and hopefully they have been watching and caring for you properly. As others stated below those Docs would be the one to ask your questions. Thought this little bit might help you feel a little more at ease with your current situation and help keep that hypertension intact ! LOL Good luck on your up and coming appointments!

      1. thanks for your input

      2. Hi dltld, and thanks for lending your own support and encouragement here - we appreciate it. We also appreciate you sharing your own personal experience managing these diseases with the community. This is a large part of what this community is all about.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
