Hi vbcod3r - There are some masks on the market that claim to filter out pollutants such as exhaust fumes. I have no idea how comfortable they would be, but perhaps for for limited use they'd be fine.
My suggestion would be to google "masks that filter pollutants". You'll get a number of hits, some of which can be purchased on Amazon. One company even has military grade masks that claim to filter out gases and pollutants.
Let us know if you decide to buy one. I'd be very interested in your experience with it.
