Some spoke to family members and friends, whereas others shared doctors and online support groups. No matter who supports you most in your journey, we wanted to take a moment to thank you all for being a part of our community at COPD.net!

I have to say my pulmonologist was very concerned for me when he told me I was in stage 4 copd with a 30% lung function. When I freaked out, he very patiently put his hand on my arm and said. "Angie, stage 4 is not like the cancer stages (which is exactly what I thought). Yours is severe, but we will work together thru this. I will be there for you. He was very compassionate. My daughter is a RN, so she has helped me tremendously. My boyfriend is still with me, so that says allot. He knows when I don't feel that well and does what he can. But really, this copd site has probably helped the most bc I can look things up if I need an answer, and who would you go to for help other than ppl and counselors who have gone through the same predicaments? God bless everyone who takes their time in helping others!

Your pulmonologist does sound like a godsend; compassionate, understanding and collaborating with you through the process. Having your family supporting you in such a manner ( a daughter who is a nurse, and a devoted boyfriend) will provide you with the strength and desire to manage your condition successfully. I have to say that this site is so good and supportive and so glad I found this site as I don't have good support from my GP. Possibly because she is more focused on my HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE (which I wish there was a group for as I need support here more so.) My COPD is on the back burner for now as my high blood pressure is critical. Been told 3 days ago I am at the 25% mark for having a stroke and heart attack within the next 10yrs. It is scary stuff to have a diagnosis that will change one's life. But for now glad I have this site because I identify with other people posting and I don't feel so isolated. It is also a learning curve on this site so may it continue to go from strength to strength. thank |You!

 Hi luvmylife1948 and thanks for updating us on your current situation. We're so glad to hear you find our site to be so helpful and supportive - please know that you are always welcome here. As for now, it does sound like you need to bring your hypertension more under control. There are known conditions that can coexist with COPD and high blood pressure can be one of them. AFTER BEING IN THE HOSPITAL MANY TIMES FOR COPD BREATHING ISSUES MY DR. ORDERED HOME HEALTH CARE TO COME TO MY HOME, THEY ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE AND I HAVE THIS SPEECH THERAPIST COME TO MY HOME ALTHOUGH I DONT HAVE ANY SPEECH PROBLEMS, BUT SHE HELPS ME WITH BREATHING EXERCISES AND ORDERED A COUPLE OF DEVISES TO HELP ME BREATHE BETTER, ONE OF THESE DEVISES ARE A ACAPELLA DEVISE FOR MORE BREATHING EXERCISES AND IT HELPED SOOOOO MUCH, THE OTHER DEVISE SHE ORDERED WAS CALLED A. BREATHER AND THAT ALSO HELPED ME TO GET MY LUNGS STRONGER, I AM ALSO TAKING A CHLORIDE SOLUTION TWICE A DAY IN MY NEBULIZER, HOME HEALTH CARE EVEN COMES TO MY HOME WHEN I NEED BLOOD WORK DONE, ITS VERY HARD FOR ME TO GET TO THE DR. VISITS AND THEY MAKE IT SO MUCH EASIER FOR ME. I SURE HOPE MY INSURANCE WILL CONTINUE TO LET ME HAVE HOME HEALTH CARE AND MEDICARE PAYS FOR THEM TOO. I DO KNOW THAT EVERYTIME THEY ARE FINISH WITH MY THERPHY VISITS AND I DONT HAVE THEM HERE I WILL END UP BACK INTO THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE THAT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES FOR ME TOO

I. FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THIS COPD WEBSITE IS VERY HELPFUL TO ME AND ENJOY ALL THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COPD TO POST THEIR COMMENTS AND EXPERIENCE ON HANDLING THIS COPD. SOME OF THEM ARE SO HELPFUL AND I TRY ALL THE THINGS THEY DO TO HAVE A BETTER DAY,. LOVE THIS COPD , WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.
