Surprised diagnosis

I am 67 and was diagnosed with early emphysema in March. I quit smoking in my 30's! I also found out the same month that there is damage in my heart and I had a mild heart attack sometime in the last year or so. I have an inhaler and use it several times a week, but not daily.

No stress or anxiety seems an impossible goal.

I lost my father to a heart attack when he was 57! My brother, 5 years younger, has already had two heart attacks. My mother died of this disease in 2012 and my mother in law in 2006.

I have seen what this disease does and am not looking forward to it.

My husband still smokes. We have been married since the late 70's. He has an aggressive form of prostate cancer and diabetes. He has an appointment with an oncologist next week.

Maybe not stress free, but never boring. I love listening to the birds at sunrise in the morning and watching the squirrels and rabbits play in the yard. Each day is a new chance to enjoy the little things that make me smile.
