Misdiagnosed Often
I have emphysema. So when I have an exacerbation, I go to urgent care if my Dr. is not available. They listen to my lungs and say they're clear and send me home. It's very rare that I get a Dr. that listens close enough to realize that my lungs are diminished and the air is stuck in there. Also, they will send me home saying my O2 sats are fine (will be 87,88) but my body is working so hard to compensate that usually I end up crashing within a day or two and end up in ER with Acute Respiratory Distress.
I know my body best
I know when I need help. I have bought myself a nebulizer and an O2 concentrator at home. And now I have a Dr that will listen when I call her and will get me some steroids so I can stay on top of it.
