Hi I'm just new here.

I don't know how to put this but yesterday I seen a heart specialist and he told me I've only a year to live maybe less maybe more. Cos I've a strain on my heart due to having too much blood in my body and its put a strain on my heart along with my lungs already having a strain on it..Has any 1 else had this too much blood if so how were u treated for it..? I never heard of this before till I was told mine was too thick.. I'm still trying to come to terms with this news. Telling my children has been the worst thing I've ever had to tell them.

Although we cannot provide medical advice or diagnostics over the internet (for your own safety), your concern certainly warrants a reply. In the most general of terms, the condition you describe ('too much blood in the body&#39😉, may have a medical term associated with it. You may want to consider seeing an alternate physician (or the same doctor, if you have confidence in him/her), for another opinion, and possibly even suitable treatment depending on the definitive diagnosis. It does not seem fair for the doctor to have told you what he/she did without any other explanation or options for treatment. What do you think? I'm hopeful others in the community may be able to chime in here and share their own personal experience with something like the condition you described. Please know you are always welcome here! See another doctor and ask about blood thinning meds

Misty 2: I was told somewhat the same close to twenty years ago when I was diagnosed withCOPD with 40 to 60% of my lungs usable. The loss of capillaries led to high blood pressure in pulmonary artery with heart trying to still send same volume of blood. The Doctor said " You have a strong heart, it just is not working correctly." I asked what could happen and reply was " Your heart valve will work harder to send blood resulting it it getting stronger but losing elasticity and could lead to eventual failure." I asked how long. Reply " one hour, one day, one year or maybe never." ICHOSE THE TWELFTH OF NEVER" for ending date. I was treated with two diuretics- one to remove fluid from circulatory system and one for body. I am still waiting for the " twelfth of never". You too can chose that path. See about treatment with diuretics. Worked for me - why not you? Take care- Sleibhin

Did he give you a diagnosis for what this is called? I will say that in my opinion, the doctors can never put an expiration date on us. I was diagnosed 11 years ago and was told I wouldn't last more than a couple of years and here I am still doing the same. Please keep in touch with us. Best, Jackie (moderator)
