"Every day is a little better, although it's hard to sleep with the prednisone. Spent the afternoon putting together the quilt for my grandson that must be finished before I can start removing wallpaper in my dollhouse project. My husband doesn't understand my attraction to miniatures. He dutifully nods as I show him miniature Aubusson rugs and battery operated lights. I think it is a creative outlet that lets me design on a small, pretty inexpensive scale, and a hobby that doesn't require excessive energy. He humors me.
I don't spend my days thinking of what could happen down the road with this disease. Nor do I spend much time thinking about getting hit by a bus. Life is short. I gravitate toward the positive. Hope everyone is having a peaceful day."
Thanks for the update,
There must be millions of dollhouse grannies out there, from the success of the many online stores. Quality pieces come in all price ranges. It is a quiet, gentle hobby, which can be enjoyed by people with less mobility, and even less energy. I find myself on many a quest for just the right piece. It takes my mind off whatever is bothering me.
Quilting is also slow and thoughtful, quilts becoming whatever you decide, and every missed stitch can be fixed. I don't aim for fancy or artistic quilts. Even the lowly triangle is beyond me. Squares and strips. Patchwork, alternating with big blocks, whatever I like at the moment. I think I have made 41 quilts so far, and hopefully have a bunch more left in me.
@Janet Plank
Hopefully, I figured out how to download a few photos. I'm not an artist, but the cost of this dollhouse was around$700 already built, so I gave it a shot. It was great fun, a real challenge, and a good result.
@Janet Plank
Sounds good, whirledpeas - I do hope you are able to share the pictures here. That should be fun to see your work and the finished product.
Hint: At the bottom right-hand corner of the text box, you will see it says 'upload image'. As long as the picture is on the device you're using (desk-top computer/laptop/cell phone), you should be able to share the picture with us here.
Good luck!

This was given to me out of a friend's garage.
This is a 1978 Art-Ply Franklin dollhouse. Originally built for a little girl by her grandpa. When she grew up, she had no daughters, so I was the lucky recipient. I have made no changes yet. Every piece of wallpaper needs to be replaced, as it looks waterstained. For now, I am enjoying finding furniture and wallpaper, lighting, and pictures.

@Janet Plank Hi Janet, Have been trying to upload a few photos, but it is my downfall!
@Janet Plank Hi Janet, I can never tell if I am notifying people of my messages. Have you seen the wonky dollhouse pics I have accidentally scattered around?
Hi whirled peas - as best as I can tell, all your posts / messages are appearing on the community website.
And there is the first picture, that I am seeing - down below in this conversation. The dollhouse looks magnificent!! That looks like intricate, detailed work!!
Wishing you well!

Thanks, Samantha - I can see them all now.
These mean a lot to
What is that expression? "A picture is worth 1,000 words!"

@Janet Plank I love sock monkeys! Can you use your sewing machine? or is that a crochet thing? My sis has made every new baby (including 20 great grandchildren!) tie blankets. We have our five on display, and some of their owners are becoming teenagers. My left hand shakes. So annoying! Luckily I am right-handed, so I can still paint and install wallpaper.
I love wreaths! My husband groans as he changes the front porch wreath every season. Would love to see pictures!
Hi
I'll try sending them directly to you this time. will write captions when they're al there.
This is the Art-Ply Franklin, from 1979. What follows are interiors of all the rooms.
There is a small half bath under the stairs.
Kitchen
Bedroom. needs a bed and dresser!
All the rooms need new wallpaper, because there are stains and rips everywhere. The one possible exception is the bedroom, which matches the new chair, and there is a bedspread to match if I keep the wallpaper. maybe one wall will stay. The top floor has never been finished, so that is a bonus. I am struggling with uploading the last picture, which is the front. Quite an elegant house, even the Before version.
I have all the loose pieces of woodwork, and the missing balcony door. It will all be painted a crisp white. The floors, with the exception of the kitchen and bathrooms, will be/are oak plank flooring. To be refinished.
@Janet Plank last night I uploaded 9 pics of the interior rooms of the current dollhouse. Would love to see pics of your tie blankets and wreaths.
@Janet Plank I would love to see a section called The Hobbies of COPD, like we have the pets, ands the one with all our faces. How does that happen?
