Striverdi Respimat® (olodaterol) is a medicine you inhale. It belongs to a class of drugs called long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonists or LABAs. Striverdi Respimat is a long-term maintenance treatment for people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It should not be used as a rescue medicine for treating sudden breathing problems.1
Striverdi Respimat is often not a first-choice drug for treating COPD. But it can be a good choice for treating COPD symptoms in some people.1
What are the ingredients in Striverdi Respimat?
The active ingredient in Striverdi Respimat is olodaterol.1
How does Striverdi Respimat work?
COPD can cause symptoms such as:2
- Mucus
- Wheezing
- Cough
- Chest tightness
- Shortness of breath
Striverdi Respimat is a LABA. LABAs work by stimulating B2 receptors. This process relaxes muscles in the airways. When the muscles in your airways relax, that reduces the symptoms of COPD.1
What are the possible side effects?
The common side effects of Striverdi Respimat include:1
- Cold symptoms
- Cough
- Dizziness
- Rash
- Diarrhea
- Back pain
- Joint pain
Call 9-1-1 if your breathing suddenly worsens after taking Striverdi Respimat.1

Other things to know
Before starting Striverdi Respimat, tell your doctor if you have:1
- Heart problems
- High blood pressure
- Seizures
- Thyroid problems
- Diabetes
Do not take Striverdi Respimat for asthma. People with asthma who take LABA medicines like Striverdi Respimat have an increased risk of death from asthma problems if they take LABAs without also using a drug called an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).1
Striverdi Respimat is a once-daily medicine for the treatment of COPD. Take Striverdi Respimat as directed by your doctor.1
Striverdi Respimat is not a rescue inhaler. If you have trouble breathing and need an inhaler for relief, this drug is not the right choice. Talk to your doctor about rescue inhalers for quick relief of breathing problems.1
Try to take Striverdi Respimat at the same time of day every day.1
There is not enough data to know if Striverdi Respimat is safe to take while pregnant or breastfeeding. Before starting this drug, tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. They can help you decide if Striverdi Respimat is right for you.1
Striverdi Respimat may interact with other medicines. Before beginning treatment for COPD, tell your doctor about all your health conditions and any other drugs, vitamins, or supplements you are taking. This includes over-the-counter drugs.
