Tips for Showering

Showering seems like such a basic thing, but for many with COPD, it’s no easy task. What strategies have you tried to ease the burden of showering?

  1. I think I have tried about everything going, I do plan a time now if at 9.00 at night I have enough energy then I will shower, all depends on how I feel. Always have a dressing gown ready to difficult to towel dry, if anyone has more ideas I would love to know.x

    1. Does anyone own a walk in tub, and if so, does it help you to relax?

    2. , that's a great question! If you want, posting this in our forums section here: COPD.net/forums will help more of our community members to see it and be able to share their experience with you! All the best, Sam S. (COPD.net, team member).

  2. I find it is a little easier if I shampoo my hair and then just stand and let the water help relax me for about 5 minutes, then proceed to wash the upper body....rest and deep breath for another 5 minutes...then wash the lower body as bet I can because it takes more energy to wash the lower extremities....then I actually pat dry in the shower and take a break before I get dressed. It is a long process and I only shower every other day because of that...unless I have several doctor appointments in the same week...which happens alot 😀
