Sleep Apnea and COPD

I was just diagnosed this week with stage1 COPD. I had gone for a consult with a specialist to set up a sleep, study and because I used to smoke over 13 years ago( thank goodness I quit back then) she decided I really needed PFT's. Sure was not expecting it. I thought it was normal at my age to be a little winded after house work like even making the bed. I can walk for about 1/2 mile if I go slowly . After three spinal surgeries I just thought I was out of shape. I have lost many family members to COPD and lung cancer so I am ready to fight hard to try and slow down the progression of this, lung disease. I am blessed that I found this site.

  1. Hi rstrickland777 and welcome. We're glad you found this site too! First, congratulations on quitting smoking so many years ago - that is a genuine accomplishment AND it's one of the best things you can do for yourself with COPD. If you're looking to fight this disease, you've certainly come to the right place!
    You are always welcome here!
