Losartan study for Emphysema

Has anyone been enrolled in this ? I have gotten the option to do so from my pulmonary doc...

  1. Hi jerrygirl - I'm not familiar with the study you've mentioned.
Hopefully, you will hear more from other community members.

    1. I am not familiar with Losartan for Emphysema. But I am on this medication for High Blood Pressure. Medication has just been doubled as my blood pressure is dangerously high. Perhaps Losartan may be helping my COPD. because my symptoms are manageable at the moment.

      1. Hi luvmylife1948 and thanks for your post. You may want to become more familiar with this medication (Losartan) by discussing it with your prescribing physician. The more you know, the better able you will be to manage your conditions (COPD and hypertension). Wishing you the best, Leon (site moderator)

        1. Thank you Leon for your email/support. Unfortunately we only get 10 mins if that to talk to our GP and she rushes so won't entertain questions. She has her own theories. Plus we don't have the financial resources to take up any problems with our G.P. hence she dismisses many symptoms. At the moment I have weakness in the legs and can't walk. Severe swelling of legs/ankles/feet. Plus COPD. I do research to help myself. I was diagnosed with a neuropathy 8yrs. ago but couldn't take this up with my doctor till now as I was nursing a sick husband through ENCEPHALITIS and then MESOTHELIOMA. which claimed his life. My G.P says there is nothing that can be done for a Neuropathy. She offers me pain killers but I refuse many because I get the serious side effects. I have severe arthritis pain. MY sister has developed Leukemia from being on a painkiller that warrants blood works done every 2 weeks. So I am not happy with many of the new drugs coming on the market causing more problems. I am on blood pressure medication for High Blood Pressure and one of the medications causes swelling of the legs and I already have this problem so my legs get heavy with the swelling and I can't walk properly and trip on the stairs but as I said GP's don't have the time to listen to the emotional pain and struggle. Hence supportive sites like this give people like me a platform to share one's frustrations. So thank you for this site and thank you for listening.
