Chronic bronchitis

Hi my name is Brett. I read a story about the author that she has emphysema and chronic bronchitis. But after giving up smoking her chronic bronchitis disappeared. I thought chronic bronchitis was copd and will advance slowly even if you quit smoking.

  1. Hi Brett and welcome. We understand your concern about the difference between chronic bronchitis, emphysema and COPD. Chronic bronchitis and emphysema are both classified under the broader term Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). I thought you might find it helpful to look over this article which highlights both: https://copd.net/basics/damaged-lungs/ I hope this helps to provide a better understanding for you.

Starting to learn more, years later!

      1. yes it is

      2. Hi Lynn, and thanks for your comment. We are glad to hear that you are continuing to learn more and more about this disease. From my perspective, the more one knows about their medical condition, the better able they will be to manage the disease. Knowledge truly is power!
Should you want to read more about chronic bronchitis and COPD, I thing this article, on that very topic, will provide you with some additional insight: https://copd.net/basics/damaged-lungs. I do hope you find the information is helpful for you.
