Cabin Fever with COPD

Staying inside during the winter months can often cause a little cabin fever. What do you do to keep yourself active and entertained during the cold months of winter?

  1. Stephanie, I call that being stir crazy like being in prison. I paint, write and go on line. The problem is I forget to get moving from time to time, fatal. So I put on the microwave and set it to 6 mins then walk from one end the room (kitchen to the bedroom) at a brisk pace that I can manage. Some days 6 mins is too much all at once so break it down to two lots of three at least twice a day if not more. My dog comes with me, he's learned to join in as he gets stir crazy as well.

    1. Hi blackjack - it's good to hear you found a solution to 'cabin fever / stir crazy' during the winter months. To be able to compensate by staying active in your indoor environment is to be commended and imitated, when feasible.
      Keep up the good work!

      1. It's nice to know other people get cabin fever. That's a good idea to use the microwave. I usually put my headphones on and listen to music as I walk from window to window in the house. It takes me awhile because a have to sit after every few feet but by the time I make my rounds I feel better just seeing outside..

        1. Hi breathless22 and thanks for your post. We hear you and have some familiarity with COPD and cabin fever.
          All the best,
