My brother had the treatment. You have to look on the Zephyr site and see what state has the treatment and what hospital will perform the treatment. It does take medicare.

The Zephyr valve for COPD

So my brother is doing great. He had it done 2 weeks before Christmas and was able to go out Christmas Eve.

Is it an option for me?

So now I am looking into it for myself. The group that performs this determines if you qualify for it. I don't know what qualifications you need.

That must be providing you with the incentive and encouragement to look at this more closely for yourself (as you said). “Please” read the pros and cons on the Zephr valves. Then determine if you’re willing to try the valves. I choose not to do surgery after having appt with the UOM. I wasn’t willing to take the chance my COPD could get worse, not better. Everyone who’s considering this must have a good conversation with their doctor and the University doctors who do the procedure. Then decide if it’ll make your quality of life better and take the chances associated with it.

Olympus Spiration Valve System was the procedure I had on 2/13/2020. ( <a href='http://svs.olympusamerica.com/patients-and-family' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer ugc'>svs.olympusamerica.com/patients-and-family</a> ) I had severe copd, had multiple hospitalizations, was on #3 02. I had quit smoking after my last hosp trip in May of 2019, which made me a candidate to have 3 valve inserts by Broncoscopy. I recommend it to anyone that's sincerely quit smoking & have struggled to breath due to copd. I immediately felt my lungs expanding & could breath with ease. I have gone from 4 intrapopium Bromide & Albuterol nebulizer treatments daily to 2 & expect to gradually use less. I'm able to be up & around more & more daily. With this covid-19 floating around, my son & his family have been caring for me & have me secured safely away from the rest of the world & his family (wife & 4 children from ages 5 to 14) in home he's secured with double thick, & staggared plastic sheeting at the doorways, his extra room w/private bath & living area, actually consider it as a private kitchenette or what would also be considered as a studio. They've made sure my mail & groceries from outside are germ free before they give them to me. Otherwise I'd be fending for myself, alone in my home 30+ miles away. I pray that everyone is as blessed with family or friends to care for them as well through this horrid pandemic.
