Is it safe to use both Anora and Spiriva?

My husband’s doctor has him using both and my husband is concerned if it is safe.

My doctor and pharmacy both advised that I should not take Spiriva and Serevent with Anoro.

Hi canon56 (Roland), it’s always best to follow your doctor and pharmacist’s advice, especially when they are both saying the same thing.

    Hi Ricanbabe,

Thanks for posting your question. While we cannot give medical advice via the internet (for your husband’s safety) we do hear you on your concern. We encourage you to ask the prescribing doctor this good question, if you haven’t already. If for some reason you do not feel comfortable with the answer provided by this doctor, please know that many in the community find it helpful to get a second opinion. Additionally, here is our COPD treatment page, which you might find interesting based on your question: https://copd.net/treatment/. I hope this helps!

    Best,
    Jenn (COPD.net Team)

Hi Ricanbabe – we appreciate your inquiry. I see that Jenn has provided a very good response inclusive of a link to an excellent reference.
In addition to the information she provided, I thought you might want to read up on the two medications you asked about.
First, this article will provide you with more insight for Anoro: https://copd.net/treatment/medication-overview/medications/anoro-ellipta/.
And second, here is some good information on Spiriva: https://copd.net/treatment/medication-overview/medications/spiriva-respimat-spiriva-handihaler/.
I do hope you find this material to be helpful to you. Please check back with us and let us know how your husband (and you!) are doing.
    All the best,
