What is the average life expectancy for someone with Stage 3 COPD?

For reference: FEV 1 - 42% FVC 43%.

  1. Dear Janet Plank,

I honestly and sincerely can't find the special words I wish to convey to you.
    You gave me hope.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your caring and understanding.

    1. 2008 I was in stage 3 COPD. I quit smoking asap. Now in 2019 I am in stage 4. Final stage. I’m hoping for another 10 years God willing.

      1. Hi, Mike54 - good to see you here again on our COPD.net website. Thanks so much for updating us on your condition.Glad to hear you were able to stop smoking back when you were diagnosed as stage 3 - quitting smoking is, as you know, one of the best accomplishments you can achieve for COPD.
There are many in our community who continue to move forward with their lives at every stage, including stage 4. I'm hopeful you will also be able to do that. Please know you are always welcome in this community.
        We appreciate your candor.
        Warm regards,
