Do concentrators hold air?

My husband says that concentrators don't hold air so they will are not dangerous around flames. Is this correct? Is he just thinking that it has to be pressurized to be dangerous?

  1. Hi JUDYWALKER and thanks for your post and question. While we are not trying to intervene within the conversation with your spouse (a classic 'he said, she said' situation), we are also sensitive to others' conversations and try to avoid being 'put in the middle' of distant discussions.
Having said that, in the most general of terms, an oxygen concentrator takes the environmental air and is then able to dispense (in most cases) 100% oxygen. As such, the gas output being delivered by a concentrator is considered to be genuine oxygen for medical purposes. Hopefully, this provides you with more insight for your concern.
