"Hello, I am new to this group and am grateful I have a place to come for info and advice. I do have a question. I am on prednisone now, have been in the oat and will now be for the remainder of my life. I am having a terrible issue with the tender areas around my eye peeling. I use a goismd eye cream and I. The morning and during the day I find them peeling again. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thank you."

  1. Hi Janene, and welcome! You have certainly come to the right place as we are all about all things COPD and COPD related.
I do have a question about what you've written: "...have been in the oat and will now..". I am not certain what "oat" is unless you meant to write 'oxygen'. Please do let us know so a more appropriate reply can be provided by our team.
As for the skin issues (the tender areas around the eyes), there are all sorts of moisturizing creams on the market today. Since you have shared the skin is continually peeling, you may want to take this up with a doctor, possible a dermatologist, just to evaluate this condition, if it is one. If not, I am sure the doctor will be able to guide you towards a suitable treatment that will work for you.
    What do you think?

  2. hi thank you for the response. Took me a minute to figure out how to reply. Think I have now. Anyway I meant to say past not "oat". I am using a really good cream now, but still having issues. I know prednisone is very damaging to the skin and I just thought maybe others here who maybe on prednisone know of a cream that works for them. If not I will go further with a dermatologist. Thanks
    Janene

  3. Hi again, Janene, and thanks for your response and further explanation.
You are doing just fine - you have, in fact, responded (no worries, there!) and now I understand what you meant about the prednisone.
Remember, just as this disease affects everyone differently, medications, too, can vary in terms of their effectiveness from patient to patient.
I do hope others in the community chime in by sharing their own personal experiences using creams for skin issues, if applicable. Keep in mind that if they do, these are anecdotal experiences.
It may be best for you to reach out to your doctor before you try anything else that someone else may suggest. Your doctor knows you and your specific condition best and should be able to guide you towards a prescription or product that is best suited for you.
Please know you are always welcome here in our online community.
I am looking forward to continuing to converse with you here.
    All the best,
    Leon (site moderator COPD.net)

  4. thank you Leon, your responses have been helpful. I will follow up with my Dr.

    All the best,
    Leon (site moderator COPD.net)
